SINOPSIS Episódio 5:

 

"La presión aumenta para Charles (Daniel Rigby) y para Isabella (Jeany Spark), y después del reñido encuentro con Johnny (Hans Matheson), el dinero del viaducto se está agotando y los salarios deben ser pagados. Cuándo Charles (Clarke Coates) anuncia que los salarios se retrasarán, la plantilla de trabajadores se enfurece y convocan una huelga.
Es hora de que George (Sam Bottomley) se mude de nuevo a la cabaña de Annie (Jessica Raine), después de su  etapa viviendo con Coates (Clarke Peters) en el camión de vapor. Pero es obvio que George tiene preocupaciones en su mente, y los recuerdos de su antigüa vida familiar aún lo atormentan. Recuerdos que, podrían no ser, todo lo que aparentan ser. Annie ha enterrado un oscuro secreto sobre el pasado de su familia que ve salir a la superficie ahora que George está de vuelta bajo su techo. Cuando Charles recurre a medidas desesperadas para conseguir que los hombres regresen al trabajo, Johnny, que sabe que las promesas de Charles están vacías, se ve obligado a tomar una posición a favor de Jericho. Los hombres están furiosos y la gente de la turba desciende en su intento de linchar a Charles. Parece que él está bien y realmente se le acaban las opciones, pero Coates no está convencido. Él ha estado observado a Johnny y se pregunta si él es quién tiene la clave para resolver todos los problemas de Charles.
Finalmente Johnny, sabiendo que ello cambiará su vida para siempre, decide dar el paso. Charles no puede seguirle estampando la puerta en las narices, no ahora que se ha quedado sin opciones. Él tiene que aceptar su ayuda, sin importar lo que pase. Pero, como siempre sucede con los hermanos Blackwood, no resulta tan sencillo. Charles inicia una pelea y, sorprendentemente, Isabella se muestra reancia a tener de vuelta a Johnny en sus vidas.
Mientras que Johnny y charles negocian, la tensión aumenta en Jericho, y algunos de los hombres, no van a dejar pasar por alto el tema del salario. Con algunos empeñados en conseguir lo que se les debe, se ha previsto una visita a la casa Blackwood. Annie y Coates se hacen eco del ataque inminente que está apunto de producirse y corren hacia la casa para prevenir a los Blackwood, pero parece que podría ser demasiado tarde para ellos. Un enfrentamiento y las consecuencias para todos los involucrados, seguramente serán transcendentales."

 

SYNOPSIS Episode 5:

 

The pressure is on for Charles (Daniel Rigby) and Isabella (Jeany Spark).  With no hope of outside investment, and with horns still locked with Johnny (Hans Matheson), money for the viaduct is running out and wages need to be paid.  When Charles announces that wages will be delayed, the navvy workforce is up in arms and calls a strike.  How long can Charles ignore this problem and will he find the cash in time to keep the men from revolting?

It’s time for George (Sam Bottomley) to move back into Annie’s (Jessica Raine) hut after his time living with Coates (Clarke Peters) at the Steam Truck.  But it’s obvious that George has things on his mind, and memories of his family’s old life still haunt him.  Memories that mightn’t be all they seem.  Annie has buried a dark secret about her family’s past that looks to come to the surface now George is back under her roof.

When Charles resorts to desperate measures to get the men back to work, Johnny, who knows that Charles’ promises are empty ones, is forced to take a stand on behalf of Jericho.  The men are furious and mob rule descends as they try to lynch Charles.  It seems he’s well and truly run out of options, but Coates isn’t convinced. He’s been watching Johnny and wonders if he holds the key to solving all Charles’ problems.

Finally Johnny, knowing it will change his life forever, makes his move. Charles cannot keep slamming the door in his face, not now he has run out of options. He has to accept his help no matter what. But, as is always the case with the Blackwood brothers, it is not straightforward. Charles puts up a fight and, surprisingly, Isabella shows reluctance to have Johnny back in their lives.

While Johnny negotiates with Charles tensions are running high in Jericho and some of the men aren’t going to let the wage issue pass.  With some hell-bent on getting what’s owed, a visit to Blackwood House is planned. Annie and Coates learn of the impending attack and race to the house to forewarn the Blackwoods but it looks like they might be too late. A stand off ensues and the consequences for all involved will surely be far reaching.
